Medical review policy

A medical-review label must describe work that actually happened.

Current status

No articles are currently claimed to be medically reviewed, and no clinicians or credentials are presented as part of this project. We will not invent reviewers or use a badge to imply a review that has not occurred.

When review is required

Content concerning diagnosis, symptoms, medicines, supplements used as treatments, mental health crises, disease management or advice for vulnerable populations requires an appropriately qualified specialist before publication. Lower-risk educational explainers still require editorial source checks.

What a review involves

The reviewer should check clinical accuracy, relevant limitations, risks and the boundaries between general education and individual advice. Their qualifications must be verified and appropriate to the topic. Conflicts of interest should be disclosed.

Only after a completed review may the page show the reviewer’s real name, relevant verified qualifications and review date. A review applies to the reviewed version, not automatically to all future changes.

Limits and re-review

Medical review cannot guarantee that information applies to every reader. A material clinical change requires another review. The author remains responsible for the writing and the editor for the publication decision.
